My love of reading and writing started when I was a young child. I came to the United States from Taiwan with my family when I was three years old. Not knowing any English, going to preschool was hard for me. I remember my parents made me wear a sign around my neck that said “bathroom” and if I needed to go, I was supposed to flip the sign to the word and show my teacher.
When I learned how to read, I fell in love with books. I remember spending all my allowance money on The Babysitter series, The Boxcar Children, and Sweet Valley High. Reading allowed my imagination to soar to far off places and make different friends with characters. Soon, I was writing my own “books” in spiral notebooks, and doing additional book reports for extra credit. Through my love of writing, I obtained a Journalism and Communications/ PR degree from Rutgers University.
I worked in the fashion industry for 20 years and have been freelance writing for over ten years. The favorite part of my day is journaling. I have written for Travel and Leisure, 1859 magazine, Insider Travel, USA Today, Family Vacationist, The Oregonian, AARP, and more. Find recent articles here. Reach out to me for more information.
